I learnt that there are a LOT more PIMO than PIMI in this organization, if everyone would get the balls to stand up simultaneously, then there would be a mass exodus. The hardcore JW will always exist, but I truly believe, based on the leaks and stories here, that they are a minority within the organization. The majority of the organization are cogs in a wheel, they are there like Catholics that go to mass, it’s a religion they haven’t ever really thought about. Then there is a significant percentage of people that know but are afraid, I would guess that if those would all leave today, they can bring at least 50% of the people with them.

The JW’s would simply say: we never said it wasn’t possible, the Bible clearly hints at these things (see Ezekiel), now we need to find a way to preach to this new field,

Colloidal Silver
by Bobcat ini was curious if anyone had/has any experience with the use of colloidal silver for antibiotic and/or wound healing?
a health food store clerk recommended this in answer to my question about such.. thank you in advance.. just as a ps, i have heard about the man who turned his skin complexion blue.
apparently he ingested large amounts and applied it all over himself for an extended period.

Silver is a relatively non-toxic heavy metal, however ingesting it gives you the results you describe, you turn blue.
Silver doesn’t react with much, so it is not going to be helpful with anything, it’s not antibiotic (copper is). Putting it in your wounds will interfere with the healing process and leave you with scars.
The best thing to do with wounds is clean with soap and then leave them open (unless you need stitches).

GB 2021 Update #10 - "get vaccinated"
by neat blue dog inam the turd comes the closest to just coming right out and telling jws they have to do it.
he says, 'there's no need to worry, just keep doing what works: wear masks, wash your hands and get vaccinated when possible'.
the busybodies are going to be even more insufferable now than they have been.

@konagirl: good to hear you got through it. At some age it is important that you have the option to get vaccinated. I am vaccinated because we work with COVID where I work (animal and human research).
Actually I have some really interesting stats on the impact of vaccinations, masks and natural immunity on the spread in the local population, we are currently embargoed from publishing by the NIH (we’ve had this data for months) and they won’t tell us why, just that from up high they’re being told that we can’t release and then they say some bullshit reason like the swabs we used weren’t pre-approved by the FDA for research purposes etc.
We are fighting hard to get publicly released data, there is some really good data coming from John Hopkins and other places, there are therapeutics now that are more effective than the vaccine, this pandemic is over for all intents and purposes.

@titch: there is a lot of irony in the media quoting single instances, when the states and countries with the strictest lockdowns have suffered the most deaths.
In the top 10 states in the US, 2 are red, the rest is blue.
In the UK the NHS just gave out a statistic that currently 48% of the excess death this year is attributed COVID-measure related issues such as suicide, ischemic heart disease, stroke and other lockdown-related issues. This type of heart disease is the leading cause of death worldwide is primarily caused by anxiety, stress and depression together with a reduction in mobility and healthy lifestyle.
Since 2019 this type of heart disease has increased by nearly 3M deaths annually, now outstripping the previous leaders neonatal and lower respiratory conditions (poverty-related issues). So our lockdowns and related issues (worldwide economic shortages) has killed nearly 3 times more people than COVID.
In the US only 48000 people have died from COVID under the age of 50 in the last 2 years. The majority of people that died were elderly or had other underlying conditions. More people died in car accidents and overdoses in that age bracket, actually the increased amount of overdoses (more than 20000 MORE overdoses in 2020 vs 2019 and it looks like 2021 will be even worse with it probably topping more than 100,000 overdoses totally) which would outstrip the younger people dying from COVID since 2020.
Old people dying from disease is a fact of life, young people are getting killed by the government en masse.
At this point Alec Baldwin has killed more people in the US than the Omicron variant. There is only 1 known death from Omicron and it seems even that case in the UK is disputed as to its accuracy.

Leading First Amendment scholars intervene in CA loyalty oath case
by Corney inbrianna bolden-hardge, a mother of two, a devout jw and a career california civil servant, sues the office of the state controller which revoked a job offer after she objected to swearing a loyalty oath, even though three other state agencies she worked for "either did not insist on the oath or provided her a religious accommodation to it" (by allowing to submit a clarifying statement).
she sued, and the case was dismissed by a district court.
now it's heard by the ninth circuit.

I think the State is right here. They want primary allegiance to their cause, not primary allegiance to a religion.
If her religion tells her to violate the law or compromise information, she would do it, there is no way you can hire someone on those basis for an entrusted position. That is basically what the oath of allegiance is, it's a written or verbal contract that you will put the law ahead of your own self-interest.
bear true faith and allegiance
That is the same as upholding loyalty or commitment. If you do not wish to bear allegiance, you're basically saying you're not willing to uphold loyalty/commitment when it comes to religious interference.
nor to participate in political or military affairs.
If you work for any government agency, you're engaging in political/military affairs. It's the definition of government.

What Does Prayer Actually Do?
by punkofnice inif you think it works, what is your evidence outside of possible coincidence?.

Proper prayer is basically a form of meditation. It can take many forms, such as chanting, reciting, reflection, group prayers. Hence why Catholic and other classic prayers are so prevalent and powerful, there is a form of repetition in it with the goal of transcendence, it can put your mind at ease by concentrating on things that aren't your ideas and things like the Lord's Prayer remind you that you MAY get the things you need if you work hard and do things for others.
The prayer you learn as a JW however isn't that at all, it's a wish list for Santa basically, it is very self-centered and prayer as a form of meditation is actually eschewed. As a JW you pray for yourself, other JW's and for Armageddon to come and other such nonsense, it is totally debased.
Compare the phrase "Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors." with any JW prayer you've ever heard from the stage. There is virtually nobody that ties your past actions towards your fellow person to the provision of the daily needs, you're not telling God in the Lord's Prayer that you need help forgiving another person, when the prayer starts, it's presumed you have already forgiven the person, only then can you ask for your own forgiveness and daily bread. It's an entirely different mindset than "please give me my food for the day, and help me overcome with the struggles I'm having with person x or y" - which is how the JW's teach you to pray, to ask for help without putting any action in yourself.

Willy Wonka, The Spy Who Loved Me, Monty Python and the Holy Grail and Life of Brian, Pete's Dragon, Alien, Godfather, A Clockwork Orange and Aristocats (because of Maurice Chevalier)
Some real classics in that era. The 60s-90s were the golden age of modern film.

Dating in the Org
by Rattigan350 inyou men, who were brothers in the congregation and you were dating sisters in the congregation, did you find that they cared more about how you made them look in the congregation than they cared about you?.
you women, who were sisters in the congregation and you were dating brothers in the congregation, were you more concerned about how he affected your status & how you were viewed in the congregation, than you cared about him?.

Depends, for me and my first wife it was more a way of getting away from home. My girlfriend(s) after that as well, a way of getting away from home. My second wife was definitely a status thing, plus also the low availability of males, just having a boyfriend in good standing is a status. -
